Sheri's Roses

So I'm back with another new card, for my friend Sheri. Remember that Garage Sale I mentioned, yesterday? She is the one that invited me to join in on the Garage Sale with everyone. She is a wonderful wife and great friend, she has 3 cute, energetic children that she is homeschooling. I think she needs a nice thank you card that looks pretty, to lift her spirits :)

I used Flourishes "Calendar Set #2" colored in with my Tobows and cut it out with my craft knife and popped it up on popdots. I used Spellbinders Labels #18, Fancy Tags #3,  Ovals and Scalloped Ovals under the rose image. I used some pearls from a Zva package to add to the elegance. I used Flourishes Classic White Cardstock and I don't know the color of the green, but it isn't such a neon springy green in real life, it's more of a light mossy sage.

This card's shape was really inspired by one of Dawn Burnworth's (from Flourishes DT) cards called "Flourishes Calla Lilies". She used this exact die in an upright position. I kept going back to that card, thinking, "Why didn't I think of that?" :) It really was one of those cards for me, still keep clicking back to it to admire the artistry of it, I just love it so much! - Great job, Dawn :)

My Happy Post!!

This past weekend I was a part of a 5 family Garage Sale, selling things we no longer needed to free up some space in our house and raise some serious scrapping money ;)  While the 5 of us women got to talking and sorting through each others items, it was apparent that everyone would be going home with as much stuff as we/they had brought, to sell - LOL. I was lucky, and  made a couple serious scores. I picked up a brand spanking new Pampered Chef Mandolin, Pampered Chef Deep Dish Lasagna Pan, Pampered Chef Cheese (hand crank) Grater, and Pampered Chef Cookie Press, all for a total of - 4 of my handmade cards out of pocket!!!! YEAY!! If that's not a bargain, then I'm crazy ;)

On top of all that, I received the Entire Flourishes February Release sets that I won a couple of weeks ago, in the mailbox. I have been anxiously waiting for those sets like crazy! So after I received them, I wondered how many Flourishes stamps I own. So I counted them out and I have: 56!!! I love them all, and I have a hard time choosing which stamps to use every time I go to stamp something out :)
Here are the beautiful stamps I won, aren't they gorgeous?

So of course, I had to try out one of the new Flourishes sets, and I choose to use the "Calla Lilies".

I decided to go very simple and with a small contrast to make the image pop. I love how it turned out, although when I look at it at times, I can't help but think it still needs something, although I don't know what. I used my favorite medium, my trusty Tombow watercolor color markers. Then I added some Sakura glitter jelly roll pen over some spots to highlight it a little bit. Although I don't think you can see it in the picture, it really adds to the image in a way I can't explain.

That was my fun and exciting weekend. And despite my best efforts I only made $20 in scrappy spending money :) ....would anyone like a slice of homemade lasagna with a side of freshly grated cheese and a pressed Christmas cookie for dessert? LOL ;)

Follow Your Heart

It's time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday and this week Beate has challenged us to create a card for someone you love and the only requirement is that it has to have red on/in it.
You can play too, and every week Flourishes has a drawing for a lucky participant who will win a $10 GC to their store. Please play along and maybe you could win :) You will find all the details in their Timeless Tuesday BLOG POST :)

A Simple sounding card, yes? No, not for me. The first card did not turn out like I planned, so I redid it and decided to make a simple card with little embellishment to let my sentiment stand out.

I used Flourishes "Life Lines" stamps set stamped in Brilliance "Moonlight White" ink and embossed in white embossing powder on The Paper Company "Weave Wine" cardstock, paired with Flourishes "Classic White" cardstock. I used the following Spellbinders layered together: Hearts, Lacy Circles, Circles, Square, and Labels #3. I used my Spellbinders "Flourish Empressabilities" on my white cardstock, under my heart, that I popped up with a popdot. Then I added some Crystal bling from Prima on it for something different then my usual favorite, pearls.

I had a little bit of difficulty getting my sentiment to stamp out nicely since my red CS had such a texture on it, but other then that bump, it all came together pretty quickly. I like the look of clean cards, but I struggle making them. They just look so bare, but less is more, right? :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

It's Valentine's Day :) This is not my usual post but I just wanted to share some fun things today.
I decided to surprise my husband and make a nice diner for him, called Chicken Piccata. But it turns out he is going to make me dinner instead! I have no idea what he is going to make but I'm very excited to see what's for dinner :)
So instead, I made a nice lunch for the cutest First Grader in the world :) I started to make her a card, then thought why not get more creative and make a nice Valentine's Day Themed lunch for her? :)

At the top of the picture is a heart shaped Pink Popcorn Ball with Pink & White M&M's (tastes like a Rice Crispies treat), for her snack time. Then you can see that card I made her with some bling on it because she loves anything that sparkles, and I don't want glitter all over everything. For her lunch, I made her heart shaped sandwiches using some homemade Pomegranate Jelly with heart shaped Fruit Rollups on top, next to some White Cheddar puffs. At the bottom is some Vanilla Yogurt with some Strawberries and Sprinkles, also for snack time. I mean why not go all out, here? :)

I really had fun making everything, but I am glad it's only once a year! Happy Valentine's Day, everyone :)

My Life Is Blessed

This is Flourishes Release Week Noon Time Challenge: Day 2. Today's challenge is: Framed!
I think yesterday's card would have fit this challenge better, but oh well :)

I used the sentiment from Flourishes "Spring Bouquet" set with the butterflies from Flourishes "Gerbera Daisies" and "Clematis and Butterflies" sets. I colored the butterflies in with Tombows and cut them out with my craft knife. The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye. I used the following Spellbinders dies: Lacy Circles, Labels #18, Fancy Tags #2, and Fancy Tags #3, all sponged in "Antique Linen" Distress Ink. The flower is from Prima and the small pearl flourish is from Zva.

This is for my Mother-In-Law's Birthday, this Sunday. Mom loves non fussy cards, but embraces strong colors and some feminine touches. So balancing all of those ideals, for her, was pretty hard to do. I think it has the strong color she loves, but not so strong it's hard to enjoy :) I threw in a small flourish of pearls in there to add some some elegance, and the flowers and butterflies represent her love of gardening :) I think this card will make her smile.  Happy Birthday, Mom :)

Sweet Birthday Peas

Today is the start of Flourishes Release Week Noon Time Inspiration. Here is their Pinterest inspiration photo:

After some thought I decided to go back to one of Flourishes previous Release Week's challenges: Black + White and 1 more color. I do not have any black and white patterned paper in my whole stash (which is an amazing feat, since I thought I owned all the paper in the world -lol), save for one piece. So you will recognize the black and white patterned paper pieces from a few days ago - LOL ;)

I used Flourishes "Sweet Peas" stamp set (also used on my other black and white card), colored in with Distress Inks and Tombows. I cut it all out with a craft knife and popped it up on popdots. I placed that in a frame made from Flourishes "Seeds Of Friendship" stamp set that I cut out with my craft knife and popped that up on popdots, too. The sentiment is from Flourishes "Flourished Words" stamped in Versafine "Onyx Black". The lace is from a garage sale, the hat pins are from Maya Road, the pearls are from Prima and the pink ribbon is from My Favorite Things.

I apologize for the awful lighting. Just as I thought I had this photobox thing figured out, I can't seem to get rid of the shadows that are suddenly showing up in my pictures. So I took these outside, after the sun had gone down (it was cloudy out).

When I saw the colors for the challenge I went back to the previous Flourishes challenge, I mentioned earlier. But what really got me excited was that beautiful satin ribbon all rolled up. It intrigued me, so I decided to use some satin ribbon on my card too, and I'm glad I did. I think it softens all the black and cream I have going on, plus helps pop the Fuchsia tones in the sweet peas. You can't tell, but the black and cream scalloped paper sat the bottom are all "ruffled" out. I tried to get a pic of it but it was pretty hard to tell against the black cardstock.

Now, I need to get going on a birthday card for my dear MIL. I am hoping tomorrows Flourishes challenge with coincide with what I need to make ;)

The Beauty Of Love

It's time for Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful Challenge. This is what I have been excited to jump back in to, and the timing couldn't be more perfect! This month's challenge is: The "Beauty Of Love". I made a card but hadn't blogged about it yet and I think that it might be perfect for this challenge :)

When I think of Love, I do think of Valentine's Day things and one of the most symbolic Valentine's items are roses. They just say that "I Love You" perfectly :)

I used Flourishes "Calendar Set #2" Roses that I colored in with Distress Inks and Tombow Markers, then I cut it out and popped it up on popdots. I used the following Spellbinders: Large Scalloped Square, Lacy Square, Square, and Labels #3 dies. I used My Mind's Eye papers, Pearls, and Zva Pearls.

I popped the window up on a frame I made from the Square and Large Scalloped Square dies from Spellbinders, and sandwiched some clear transparency between them. Then I added the pearls from Zva, on top of the transparency, so that they are "floating" above the background MME paper for a 3D effect.

Flourishes Release Week Challenge

I'm back after a long absence from scrapping and blogging, and boy did I miss it!
I'm just in time for Flourishes Release Week challenge. This challenge is a :

We need to use Black & White plus 1 extra color. I decided to use Yellow as my extra pop of color because I love the Black & Yellow color combination.

I used a Flourishes set I had forgotten I had: "Sweet Peas". I colored them in with my Tombow markers: 025, 026, 090, 991 and Distress Ink "Peeled Paint". I cut it all out with my craft knife and popped it up on popdots, then used a Clear Glitter Gel Pen to highlight certain areas on the flowers. I used Creative Imaginations paper and Flourishes "Classic Ivory" Cardstock paper behind the flowers. The Spellbinders "Labels One" is used to frame the flowers.

As you can see on my last post date it was before Christmas. My family and I had decided to spend all of Christmas break together and to try not to use our computers, but to just enjoy our family time together :) It was different not making cards and blogging, at first, but then I got used to it and enjoyed our vacation time. Then at the end of Christmas break, someone introduced me to "Pinterest" and I was hooked!! This year our whole family is going to go all handmade, no matter what, and if we need anything we can't make, it has to be from a Garage Sale, Second Hand Shops or from Craig's List. So Pinterest is a Gold Mine of ideas for me :)
Just when I was going to jump back into crafting and making cards, one of our immediate family members domestic partner passed away unexpectedly. It was such a shock to all of our families. My heart goes out to them and I am just broken hearted about it. Please pray for that situation, everything's been so overwhelming on my family member. It just makes understanding the "why" so hard.

Thank you for visiting and Happy (very) Belated New Year :)
