Autumn Basket

Hello friends, I am back with another Jennifer Nilsson Art Design creation. But first, I have a question for you. Have you thought of, or tried, adding a digi image into your scrapbooking layouts? That's exactly the challenge I gave myself because I had always thought of digi images for cards only and I think many of us think so, but I think I can prove that wrong!

I chose to use Jennifer Nilsson's Autumn Basket Girl because it's cute fall look and the fall in the air, nowadays.

I colored in the image with Copics and cut it off set to give it interest. I added a couple pictures of my daughter at a pumpkin patch, doily's, a chipboard flourish, flowers and a journaling arrow.

Adding a digi image to a layout is easy and adds a nice personal touch to any layout! I hope you try it!

Thank you for visiting and I hope you come back again soon for another Jennifer Nilsson Art Design project post!

Drops of Love

Hello crafting friends, how is your crafting weekend so far? Mine is far to busy with non-crafting "important" things like laundry, cleaning and cooking. As soon as they are done, I'll be able to sit down with my crafty stuff. I'm looking forward to it!

Until then I have an inspiration card I recently made to show off one of Jennifer Nilsson's digi stamps called Drops of Love
I colored in my image with Copics, and used some pretty peachy polka dotted paper and deep peach colored cardstock. After creating my layout I used a doily, some pearls and paper embellishment elements to create the decorative elements on my card.

Thank you for visiting my blog for some creative inspiration! I'll see you in a couple days for another creative card using Jennifer Nilsson's Art!

Jennifer Nilsson Designs

Hello and good morning crafting friends, I have some great news I am excited to share! I accepted a position on Jennifer Nilsson's Digital Arts design team! She has amazing designs and an amazing team of talented ladies on it! I am honored to be on the team with each one of them.

Jennifer has many, many, cute designs to choose from and that made it difficult to chose just one to debut on my blog. But because I just think snowmen are cute, I decided to use the Gift of Love snowman from her many designs.

I decided to color the image in tones of blues and teals, in my take on a "sepia" tone look. Instead of using browns and neutrals, I used blues in my image, ribbon, cardstock, and papers.

There are many ways to find Jennifer's art and be inspired by the team! You can follow us on Facebook, Pinterest, and her blog page for many ways to hear about news, sales, tutorials, fun challenges, and so much more! Don't forget to also sign up for her newsletter! Every newsletter she sends out is chock full ideas, challenges, news and freebies! You can find a sign up link for her news letter on her blog and Facebook group.

On The Hop

Hi everyone! Are you ready for something a little different today? Well the Flourishes team decided that every Friday, we are all going to create a hop for you to join us as we offer you inspiration, tips, ideas, and virtual card eye candy for you to enjoy as you hop through! I'd say that's a pretty fantastic start your weekends!

So without further ado, here is my card. Our team leader, Vicki Dutcher, challenged us to use Gold on our creations this week, so that's what I did.

I stamped out A Mother's Hug sentiment on Flourishes Classic White cardstock, and heat embossed it in gold. Then I used various Spellbinders to create frames to frame the sentiment beautifully. I added metallic gold pearls in various places to re-emphasize the gold theme. I added the Maya Arts Taupe silk ribbon as an accent, under the sentiment label.

I hope I didn't go too overboard with the gold, but I love how it turned out!! I absolutely love mixing and combining Spellbinders dies to create lovely windows and creations like this.

Take a look to see what the other DT members have created with the challenge to use Gold on their cards and creations.

Amanda Havon - you are here!

Happy crafting everyone, I'll see you next Friday on the hop, where the theme is "Add Some Sparkle"!

Happy Rides

Good morning, and happy Sunday to you! I have a nice and simple card today using Flourishes Bike Ride.
I stamped out Bike Ride onto Flourishes Classic White Cardstock and colored it in with Copics. I trimmed down the image piece and used my corner rounder to round out the bottom corners. After rounding the corners I added my blue ribbon and Flourishes Tailor Made Classic Tags die, that I stamped Hello onto, from Flourishes Friendly Reminder stamp set. I placed popdots under my bike image to lift it off the background patterned paper and attached it to my cardbase.

I want to mention that Bike Ride, Friendly Reminder, and all the other stamps in Flourishes online store are on sale until the end of the month! The sale is so popular, you our readers, have asked that the sale be extended and so we did! Almost every stamp set is $10, only!! Don't miss this stamp liquidation sale! To visit Flourishes online store visit: Flourishes LC

Have a happy Sunday, I'll see you on Fridays in September, as a part of a weekly Flourishes Friday Hop, from now on. That means five times as much inspiration! I can't wait to see you there.

Sunday Morning Flourishes

Hello again, I'm back with another Flourishes card that I kept very simple and sweet.
Remember those cool shaped cards that were all the rage a few years ago? Yep, I decided to go "retro" and make one and just have fun with it.

I picked Flourishes Garden Picks stamp set and stamped it on Flourishes Classic White cardstock. I colored the flowers in very softly with my Copics, then fussy cut it out and set it aside. I stamped Flourishes Love and Lace as my circular background, in Memento Desert Sand on Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock I diecut out into a circle. I matted the diecut circle with Spellbinders Picot Circles die, using a very light and soft pink cardstock, to give it a lacy and feminine feel.
I attached my base to my top half and I cut out a scalloped circle shape in a soft pink cardstock, attaching it to my base for decoration. Then I added a fancy tag shape so that my top could have a "catch point" so my card wouldn't flop closed. Then I stamped the flower images in Memento Desert Sand on the fancy tag piece, adding my sentiment in the middle. I finished off my card with some pearls and swirl bling, keeping it very simple and not fussy.

I hope this card inspires you to try another retro card shape or style!

As promised I am also announcing my blog candy winner from Flourishes Release Week! The winner is: Liz Williams!!! Liz, please email me at : havonfamily@yahoo.com to claim your prize!!

Flourishes Release Week: Greatest Gift

Hello Flourishes Friends! Have you enjoyed the Release Week? Are you ready for Flourishes last release day? It's a great one!
This set is called Greatest Gift and it's beyond beautiful!

I stamped the Greatest Gift image onto Flourishes Classic White cardstock in very black ink, coloring it in with Copics. After that I fussy cut out the image and placed popdots under it to lift it off the page and give it a 3D, life-like effect. I mounted the image onto a Kraft paper with black foil designs. Then I mounted the design paper onto black cardstock to make the design paper and image pop.

This has to be the quintessential Christmas card image for the ages. Mary is lovingly looking at baby Jesus and Joseph is looking in wonder and love, at his wife, Mary. You cannot get a more beautiful Christmas card image anywhere!

In honor of Flourishes, I am offering another blog prize during this Release Week! I am offering 3 Flourishes stamp sets, 2 yards of Flourishes May Arts Silk Ribbon: Mauve and Burgundy, plus some other laces and ribbons!

It's Your Day!

Hello Flourishes Free for All Friday friends! I have a beautiful card for you today. I created a card using Flourishes Hollyhocks set.

I diecut out an hour glass shape using Flourishes Perfectly Pierced Hourglass die with Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock. Then I stamped out the Hollyhocks onto the diecut, keeping the die in place so that the stamp image stayed within the open “window” borders. I removed the die and colored in the image with Copic markers. After coloring the image in, I created my card base with some added design papers. After attaching the design papers to my card base, I added some Color Made Easy ribbon in Azure Collection (#39) on top of my lace I added. I added my Hollyhock image and a bow made out of the 1/4 Azure Collection (#39) Color Made Easy ribbon and a pewter rose button on top of that, and completed my card with various aqua colored pearls all over my background, in the flower centers, of the card.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope this inspires your crafting this weekend!

Flourishes Free For All Friday!

Hello and welcome to another Flourishes Free For All Friday! It's my turn to host the Flourishes blog and show off a creation using another Flourishes Image.
I am using another Flourishes retiring set called The Sweetness of Friendship.

I stamped out The Sweetness of Friendship on an acetate frame with some Memento ink so that it wouldn't smear after drying. Then I took an old back piece of Prima flower packaging and used that as my card background. After letting the stamped sentiment dry on the acetate, I placed popdots under the acetate to lift it off the card background to create depth. After placing the acetate image where I wanted it on the card, I added some flowers, leaves and some pearl swirls over the white popdots so that they couldn't be seen and also add some color and beauty to the card's overall look.

This was an experiment to see if I could find a way to place popdots under the acetate so I could lift it off the card to add some depth and interest. I really like how it all turned out and I may try this again, although working with acetate is tricky and it doesn't photograph easily. I'd like to encourage you to try it, if you haven't, you may find you like it!

Don't forget that Flourishes is having a huge blow out sale to retire old sets and make way for some of the new ones! Don't miss out, you only have a couple days left to buy your favorite sets. The sale ends July 31st.

Thank you for visiting and I will see you next Friday for another Free For All Friday!

Zinnias

Good morning and happy Saturday everyone! I have an easy and fun card to show you, today.

I stamped out the Zinnia image onto Flourishes Classic White cardstock and colored it in with Copic markers, using a large variety.

Then after coloring the image in, I cut it out using Spellbinders A2 Borders and added some popdots under the diecut image so it will pop off the Color Made Easy Taupe cardstock background. After placing my image on the background I added a few white pearls to my card to highlight the diecut shape movements, and that completed my card.

I just got a new set from Flourishes called Zinnias and I got right to crafting with it! I have wanted this set for quite a while so imagine my delight when Flourishes brought it back for a limited time! When I was young, my mother would plant Zinnias near our back porch for some fall color and I just loved how cheery they made the garden look and feel. I just loved how those flowers gave such pop of color and the richness of their color depth! Don't let the amount of petals intimidate you at all, they are incredibly easy to color in and look fabulous when finished. Keep it simple and stick to three colors at first and let your creativity flow.

Don't forget that Flourishes is having a pretty large blow out sale, until July 31st!! This Zinnia set and many others are on sale at a deep discount so get them while they're available! They are being cleared out to make room for more inventory, so please don't delay in getting some nice floral and many other kinds of images!

Join me next Friday for another Flourishes card, which is one of my recent favorites, so don't miss it!

Happy Birthday To You!

Hello crafting friends! It's time for another Flourishes card post.

Today I made a universal card created from two Flourishes stamp sets.

I chose to use Flourishes Peacock and Sentimental Favorites stamp sets. I colored the peacock with Copics and fussy cut it out. I found a decorative acetate photo piece and attached it to my DP, then popped it all up on Popdots. I cut out a window using Flourishes Tailor-Made Classic Frames die, so you could see the sentiment under the front half of the card. I used some old lace I found at a garage sale and some May Arts Silk Ribbon in Ivory to add a bow. I finished the whole look with some rhinestone bling to pull some of the peacock's color around.

If you like what you see and you would like any of these two stamps or others, you're in luck, Flourishes is having a blow out sale!! You can get Flourishes past stamp sets, but you need to get them soon, because they are Retiring and going away on July 31st!! Don't miss this opportunity to get some fresh sets for your crafting needs. Every stamp set is on sale marked down, ready to go! Just visit the Stamp home page HERE in the Flourishes home store to see what's new and on sale! Happy stamp hunting!

YOU Are Special

Hello friends and welcome back to another fabulous Flourishes card. This such a special and pretty card, I just love how it turned out!

I used Flourishes You Sentiments that I stamped and framed in a metal frame and I painted over with white paint to "shabby it up", adding some pretty pearls under the sentiment. After that, I added some Prima flowers, a half a doily, and some Flourishes May Arts Mauve Ribbon. Then I matted everything in Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock cutout into a frame using the Spellbinders Regal Frame die.

I wanted to go for a mixed media shabby chic look, so I decided to use something's I usually never use on my cards, such as Prima flowers and a metal frame to frame my sentiment. I am not comfortable in the mixed media realm, but I like to push myself creatively just to see where it goes.

I have created all of maybe 3 mixed media items or projects and I always over analyze each embellishment or accessory thinking it looks like too much or looks too "heavy". This time I just rolled with it and decided not to look at the in-process card too critically. After it came together I realized because I wasn't used to it, it was all "too much" before I even gave it a chance to evolve. So next time you're creating your next card, try using something you don't normally use or like to use, keep an open mind and see where it goes!

Thank you for stopping by and I'll see you next week with some new inspiration!

Happy Independence Day

Hello crafting friends happy early Independence Day! Today I am showing you a card I made for the 4th of July.

I used Patriotism on Parade, I stamped onto Flourishes
Classic White Cardstock I matted with Flourishes Color Made Easy Christmas Red Cardstock & Iced Aqua cardstocks. Then I stamped out the sentiment onto a Flourishes Tailor-Made Classic Tags die and tied a 1/4 May Arts Red Silk Ribbon to the top loop of the tag die.

I sponged the background in a yellow to represent the fireworks glow and I added a few heavier sponge circles to show the fireworks "die off" effect, like the afterglow after a firecracker dying out.

I hope this card gets you in the crafty mood for the weekend, because Flourishes is having a 4th Sale!! They are offering 10% off the entire store!  Plus, if you all three of the 3 June Releases, you will save 20% off on them!!
Also, starting JULY 5th, ALL DIES are on sale 40% off - once they are gone, they are gone. First come first served. Find all the details here at FLOURISHES.

I'll be back next week with a nice Shabby Chic card I know you'll all love!

Flourishes Irish Blessing

Good morning crafting friends, it's time for my first Flourishes Free For All Friday! I am so excited to show you what I created.

I used Flourishes Cottage Home's Irish Blessing sentiment, that I stamped on a tag I'd saved. I added my card base in Flourishes Classic Cardstock in Taupe. After attaching my base, I used May Arts Champagne and Ivory ribbon in a double bow that I added on my card, and then hat pins and a flower to complete the card.

I try never to stick with one look or style, but if you had to ask what style I love, it would be shabby chic. With that in mind, I had to create a shabby chic card after finding this lovely card from a tag that came with an order of crinkled seam binding ribbon!

I love reusing packaging and things in unexpected ways when crafting. You never know what you will create or come up with. I'd love to hear from you in the comments section when you have used an item in a unique way!

As always come again and have a great crafting weekend!

Flourishes Free For All Friday

Good morning friends, today I am showing you another masculine card using the DAD You Rock! set.

To make my card, I stamped out the sentiment only, from DAD You Rock!, onto Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock and stamped a background stamp onto it. Then I cutout my sentiment with Flourishes Tailor Made Classic Bookplate Die, to frame the sentiment. I layered it in Flourishes Taupe cardstock, and added some seam binding and half pearls to finish it.

This is a simple yet, masculine card for any man. I created this card as a challenge to myself to use a sentiment only with minimal accessories. I am very happy with the look of the card and how clean and simple it looks.

I'd like to challenge you to create a card with a sentiment only as you create this week, you just might like what you see!

Flourishes: Happy Father's Day!

Good morning friends, today I am showing you a card I made for Father's Day coming up.

I used In Nature and Mountain View, stamped out on Flourishes Classic White cardstock. I colored them in with my Copics, and fussy cut out the majestic buck. For my back ground image I created a twilight scene using Distress Inks and a blending sponge, and stars by flicking paint on my sponged background. After that, I placed popdots under my fussy cut buck image, and placed it in front of my stamped background.

I wanted to create a card that was both masculine and bold. Masculine cards can be hard to create, because sometimes I like ribbon and lace on my cards. But when making a masculine card,  you can go bolder on the coloring and really make it pop or stand out. This way, you don't feel as though you have to add extra embellishments to make it look nice, because it already does!

I'll be back soon with another Flourishes card. Don't forget to subscribe to my blog, that way you won't miss out on another card!

I really missed creating and using Jan Marie's lovely stamps and images. If you have never heard of Flourishes stamps or used them before, you're in for a real treat.

We will be having our Release Week, starting May 30th and I hope you'll join us on our release hop! The stamps are the same unique, timeless, elegant images and I know they will inspire you to get creating with them!
