Timeless Tuesday #204

Good morning Flourishes Friends! Welcome back to another one of our great weekly challenges! This week, Cindy, our hostess, is challenging us to create a card with: 4 Brads/Pearls, a Circle, and a Fishtail Flag!

I love this card recipe idea! I was really inspired to go many directions, but in the end I decided to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) a card from Meredith MacRitchie. Meredith is from the Bring Back Beautiful design team, one of our sister teams here, in Flourishes. HERE is a link to her card with inspired me (it's the 4th picture down), and if you have a minute, take a look around her blog, she is truly creative!

Here is what I created, being inspired from Meredith's card.

I used Flourishes new "Just My Type" that I stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa onto Flourishes Classic Ivory CS, then I stamped some brackets on top and under the Just My Type sentiments from Flourishes "Sweet Violets". I used Teresa Collins "Now and Then" 6x6 stack that I distressed and matted with Rich Brown Color Made Easy CS. I cut a circle out of it using a scalloped circle die, and layered my sentiment and a paper doily over it. I used Color Made Easy's "Argentina" brown ribbon, Laurel Venise Champagne lace, Kraft Jute, Poppy Button, Crystal Trinket PinsVintage Kraft Fishtail Flag pin that I stamped Flourishes "Tiny Flowers & Tags" on it and added pearls as a finishing touch.

Timeless Tuesday: Your Favorite Stamp

Good Morning! This week it's my turn as hostess of the Timeless Tuesday challenge. This week is: Use Your Favorite Flourishes Stamp Set! Simple as that! I know I have a few that are pretty near and dear to my heart as being the first sets I purchased from Flourishes, but I really love the "With Gratitude" set from Flourishes FLIP Loyalty Program.

Growing up in the country, we had a huge field of Black Eyed Susans (Echinacea) and Shasta Daisies behind our house. I loved their colors so bright, bold and stunning among the daisies :) This set reminds me of those fun days playing in the fields of flowers :)

For my card I chose Flourishes "With Gratitude" set from their FLIP Loyalty program. It's stamped in  Memento Tuxedo Black on Flourishes "Classic Ivory" cardstock, then I cut it all out with my craft knife. The sentiment is from Flourishes "Tiny Flowers and Tags" set. For the background, I stamped Flourishes new "Antique Lace"  in Memento "Desert Sand" on a Spellbinders "Labels #21" . Then I framed my flowers with a cut out Spellbinders "Labels #20" placed over my image. I finished everything with some pearls to add some elegance.

My Happy Post!!

This past weekend I was a part of a 5 family Garage Sale, selling things we no longer needed to free up some space in our house and raise some serious scrapping money ;)  While the 5 of us women got to talking and sorting through each others items, it was apparent that everyone would be going home with as much stuff as we/they had brought, to sell - LOL. I was lucky, and  made a couple serious scores. I picked up a brand spanking new Pampered Chef Mandolin, Pampered Chef Deep Dish Lasagna Pan, Pampered Chef Cheese (hand crank) Grater, and Pampered Chef Cookie Press, all for a total of - 4 of my handmade cards out of pocket!!!! YEAY!! If that's not a bargain, then I'm crazy ;)

On top of all that, I received the Entire Flourishes February Release sets that I won a couple of weeks ago, in the mailbox. I have been anxiously waiting for those sets like crazy! So after I received them, I wondered how many Flourishes stamps I own. So I counted them out and I have: 56!!! I love them all, and I have a hard time choosing which stamps to use every time I go to stamp something out :)
Here are the beautiful stamps I won, aren't they gorgeous?

So of course, I had to try out one of the new Flourishes sets, and I choose to use the "Calla Lilies".

I decided to go very simple and with a small contrast to make the image pop. I love how it turned out, although when I look at it at times, I can't help but think it still needs something, although I don't know what. I used my favorite medium, my trusty Tombow watercolor color markers. Then I added some Sakura glitter jelly roll pen over some spots to highlight it a little bit. Although I don't think you can see it in the picture, it really adds to the image in a way I can't explain.

That was my fun and exciting weekend. And despite my best efforts I only made $20 in scrappy spending money :) ....would anyone like a slice of homemade lasagna with a side of freshly grated cheese and a pressed Christmas cookie for dessert? LOL ;)
